Especially the first part on the sermons, and esp. Dr.Feguson's sermons. He is right, of course. We live (that is, enjoy spiritual life, a relationship of acceptance., etc., with God) only in Christ. He is our life. And to the degree taht we seek "life" form him alone, to that degree we are holy and therefore happy. F. is also right that the greatest need of our people (aside form God himself) is the holiness of their ministers. (The same goes for our wives, by the way.) BoT has been a source of great spiritual nourishment for me since my seminary days. I wish I could remember all the titles or truths, but they would include works by Edwards, Owen, Murray. Right now, I am finally reading the 2nd volume of Dallimore on Whitefield. The first volume, read when it came out, was good. This is magnificent. The holiness of the man is astounding, and yet it is, like Paul's really "normal." I would recommend this book for any minister every year or two. I'd love to attend this conference next year! I have seen the Banner of Truth stuff mocked in recent days by some of the pro-FV foot soldiers, and I have been shocked. The materials there have been great in calling me to return to Biblical godliness. I am glad that you have been blessed by the faithful work of these men, and I hope that you remember their exhortations and comforts in your future work.
