time is a vapor

September 6th, 2006

Tony Reinke, blogger at The Shepherd’s Scrapbook, has posted some helpful tips at keeping quotes organized for those who are seldom found without their nose in a book. i absolutely love organization like this and such a system would greatly help me remember specific things i had read, and would certainly help in my studies.

o, to have more time than i do to devise such a system and actually use it. perhaps at some point i’ll find the hours to spend going through books i’ve read, recording the things i’ve highlighted, and dividing them up into easily recognizable, sortable, and searchable categories. perhaps i should acquire an intern.

also of note at Tony’s blog is his series (part 1, part 2, and part 3)wherein he creates his own version of Jonathan Edwards’ blank bible. if i only had a table saw….

    cozart,

This and next week I’ll show you a real easy way to use someone elses index so you can easiy find your way though the best Puritan literature. Then you wont feel guilty at not reading your books, be organized, and you can save the money on your intern :-)

Brandon: Just start, man. If you get on track with doing it, you’ll get around to the old stuff. But drive a stake in the ground and tug forward from that … it’s the only way you’ll do it in the future.

    Tony,

thanks! i can’t wait to see that series and i can’t wait to see what you say about the Puritans. as you can probably tell from my blog, i’m a pretty big fan of the Puritans (Edwards, particularly, if he can be called one; i think he can). oh, and about the internship, i never said it would be a PAID internship

    Geof,

ya, i know. problem is i don’t have much time to do it now! although maybe i could develop some sort of system this weekend when i’m watching football. hmmm……

Start doing it, and let a system grow organically…
